PRESSING DURING BUILD-UP

Description

Objective: - Pressing during the build-up. Conditioning rules: - None. Observations: 1st situation: - Striker directs the press towards a center-back, using a deterrent press so the center-back cannot pass back to the goalkeeper or the other center-back. - The winger tucked inside, upon seeing the ball go to the full-back, will press, preventing them from playing with the center-back and forcing them towards the touchline. - The whole team is oriented to block passing lanes, without being bypassed, staying close to the opponent to prevent long balls and pressing when the ball is in motion. 2nd situation: - If the center-back plays to the other center-back, the far-side winger must be tucked inside (like an attacking midfielder) to be able to jump whenever they can anticipate and control the interception; if not, they will drop back to the full-back position to avoid being bypassed on the flank. 3rd situation: - If they play between center-backs and one wants to progress, the striker will go to one center-back and the attacking midfielder to the other. The defensive midfielder will move to the attacking midfielder's position, the offensive midfielder to the defensive midfielder's position, and the far-side winger to the offensive midfielder's position.
