6v6 attack-defense drill

Description

On a pitch of approximately half-field size with a regulation goal, we play 6v6. One team has possession in attack, while the other defends the goal and presses the ball carrier to launch a counter-attack and score in one of the three small target goals. The attacking team must complete a minimum of six passes before attacking the main goal; the defending team, upon winning the ball, must finish the play in a maximum of three touches. If a goal is scored or the ball goes out of bounds, play restarts from the midfield.

Objectives

Collective pressing after loss, defensive block organization, rapid attack-defense and defense-attack transitions, rational space occupation in the offensive phase. Improvement of passing in tight spaces under pressure, directional touch, dribbling with changes of pace, support and breaking runs, finishing against a goalkeeper.
