AUTOMATISM (Pressing the build-up)

Description

Objective: - Pressing the build-up. Conditioning rule: - Opponent's formation. Notes: 1st option: - Ball placed or held by the goalkeeper, striker at the edge of the penalty area, wingers marking their full-backs, left interior midfielder on the central pivot, right interior midfielder on the far pivot, and our defensive midfielder on their attacking midfielder. - The striker presses the receiving center-back using a curved run (shadow cover). - If there is a switch of play: the left interior midfielder presses the opposing center-back using a curved run; the striker moves centrally to mark the pivot left by the left interior midfielder; the right interior midfielder presses the opposing center-back; the defensive midfielder presses their strong-side pivot; the weak-side winger drops deep; 2nd option: - Ball placed or held by the goalkeeper, striker at the edge of the penalty area, wingers marking their full-backs, left interior midfielder on the central pivot, right interior midfielder on the far pivot, and our defensive midfielder on their attacking midfielder. - The striker presses the receiving center-back using a curved run (shadow cover). - If the center-back advances: the winger presses the opposing center-back using a curved run; the defensive midfielder intercepts the center-back's path to create a pressing trap between the winger, striker, and defensive midfielder; the right interior midfielder presses the opposing attacking midfielder; the weak-side winger presses the opposing far pivot.
