How to create soccer training sessions with AI (properly)

Published: 2026-07-12

"Ask ChatGPT for your session" has become the trendy advice among coaches. And it works… halfway: you get generic text with no diagrams, invented drills and zero connection to your team. AI applied to training can do much more when used properly.

What generic AI gets wrong

  • It invents drills: vague descriptions you can't actually set up on the pitch.
  • It doesn't know your context: not the age group, not the level, not how many players show up on Tuesday.
  • It can't draw: without a diagram, half the information is lost.
  • It doesn't learn from your season: every request starts from scratch.

What a training AI should do

The difference between a text generator and a real assistant comes down to three things:

  1. Real drills, not invented ones. GolTK doesn't write drills: it retrieves them from a library of 2,000+ exercises using semantic search, filtered by age, level and objective. Everything it proposes exists, with a complete card and an animated tactical diagram.
  2. Professional structure. The session comes out the way a coach would build it: warm-up → two main tasks → game phase, with durations distributed across the total time you set (30–180 minutes).
  3. Your context as input. Age group (U12, U16...), level, moment of the season, objective of the day (possession, finishing, pressing...): the setup chat takes a minute and shapes the whole result.

How it works in GolTK, step by step

  1. Tell the AI about your team in a short chat: age group, level, session duration and objective.
  2. The AI composes the session with real drills from the library, ordered and timed per block.
  3. Review and adjust: swap any drill for another, edit durations, save it to your calendar.
  4. To the pitch: every drill includes its phase-by-phase animated diagram so you can explain it in seconds.

Does AI replace the coach?

No — and that's the point. AI removes the mechanical part (searching, ordering, balancing timings) so you can add the one thing no machine has: knowledge of your players. The generated session is an excellent draft; your judgement turns it into the right session for Tuesday.

The free account includes AI sessions every month — try it with your next training and compare it with your current process.
